No More Audio Cutting Out - Problem Fixed for FIFINE Microphone

An intermittent or choppy audio signal from your USB microphone can be frustrating. This issue typically stems from two areas: external factors related to your computer's connection, power, or software settings; or internal factors involving the microphone's hardware, such as the USB cable or port. Most causes are simple to fix.

Please follow these steps to diagnose and resolve the problem.

Step 1:  Check the Physical Connection & Power

A stable connection is crucial. Please try the following:

Reboot & Re-plug: Restart your computer. Then, unplug the microphone and plug it directly into a different USB port on your computer. Avoid using USB hubs or front-panel ports on desktops, as they may not provide stable power. Use the ports on the back of your desktop instead.

Ensure Adequate Power: If you are using a laptop, please make sure it is plugged in and charging. Running on battery alone can sometimes lead to insufficient power for the microphone.

Test on Another Computer: This is the best way to determine if the issue is with your original computer or the microphone itself.

Step 2:  Review Your Recording Software Settings

Some software features can cause audio dropouts. Check the settings in your recording or communication app (like Discord, Zoom, etc.):

Disable features like "Voice Activity," "Automatically Determine Input Sensitivity," and "Automatic Gain Control (AGC)." Using a "Push to Talk" setting or a consistent input threshold is recommended.

Properly setting Open Threshold and Close open Threshold to ensure the gate opens reliably for quiet and prevents the gate from closing prematurely during speech tails or slight pauses.

Step 3:  Inspect the USB Cable and Port

Faulty cables are a common cause of intermittent issues.

Try Another Cable: Use a different high-quality USB cable that you know can handle data transmission (some cables are for charging only).

Check the Connection Angle: Gently press the USB-C cable into the port on the microphone at a slight angle to see if it establishes a more stable connection. If this works, it may indicate a potential issue with the USB-C port.

By following these steps, most audio interruption issues can be resolved. If the problem persists after trying all the suggestions above, please contact our customer support team for further assistance.
